Earlier this year, I became part of a task force to bring
awareness to growing national and international problem: human trafficking. Human
trafficking is a form of slavery and it happens right here in our own backyard.
I am proud to have partnered with two organizations which help provide
immediate shelter and housing for sexually exploited women and children.
The
WellHouse (http://the-wellhouse.org/) is
a organization located right here in Birmingham and is the only shelter in
Alabama which provides immediate shelter to women.
Rescue 1 (http://rescue1mission.com/) is an
organization based out of Nashville which provides shelter to boys and girls in
Southeast Asia who are at risk of being trafficked or have been rescued from
the lifestyle.
Both of these organizations are nonprofit and need financial
support. If you would be interested in learning more about this problem,
volunteering your time or talents, or providing financial support, either one
time, monthly, quarterly, etc., please ask me. I am passionate about making
people aware of this form of slavery and raising funds for these organizations.
